Because of Bill’s problems with his vocal cords, Tokio Hotel have not just canceled the Europe tour, but now also the concert in Washington DC May 1st.
David Jost: “We want to take away the psychic pressure on Bill, and give him more time to heal his voice.”
It’s possible that the concert in New Jersey for Bamboozle May 3rd can be canceled too, but we don’t want people to overreact. They only want Bill to have more time to rehabilitate so this won’t happen again.
ONE REPUBLIC wants to write a song with Tokio Hotel.
"I want to write a song with Tokio Hotel" says Ryan (from OneRepublic), "These guys are so successfull all over Europe! I heard some of their songs, and I really like them! Bill has a good voice. Their image and style is fascinating! It won't be easy, but with an English hit they're going to have awesome success in the USA!"
Have you written a song yet? Or worked together with them?
"So far no. I have so many things in my head with my band OneRepublic. But I think working together with Tokio Hotel would be great!"
1: Who is Tokio Hotel?
Bill - I'm Bill, I'm the singer, I write all the lyrics. I started writing songs very early. I think I wrote my first song when I was about 7.
Gustav -I'm Gustav, I play the drums, and I'm like quiet, shy one of the band.
Georg - I'm Georg. I play bass...
Tom-- He's not important.
Georg- And I am important! (It's a play on words in German "unwichtig/unimportant sounds like "und wichtig/and important")
Tom -- You could say I'm the ladies' man of the band. Other people might say they are, but it's true with me. And I play the guitar.
2: Are Tokio Hotel's fans really that CRAZY?
Bill- Our fans do a lot of different things. They write us letters. The longest one we got was the size of a wall about 7.5 miles long. One girl bought a star and named it after us. And one girl designed a car after us and then drove along our tour bus on our last European tour. That's some of the stuff our fans come up with. I have to say we've never been scared by a fan. Usually they are very involved with us, but not scary.
Tom- I could tell you some scary stories out of my bedroom but I don't have time for that today, we have to reschedule that.
3: Who makes Tokio Hotel SCREAM?
Bill -- I listen to a lot of different music, and a big mix. I listen to Coldplay and Keane, but I actually have to say we started so early and being on the road performing in clubs and finding our sound, so we didn't have a lot of time to go to other shows. We've been so busy with our music, we never became FANS in that way. But we do like a lot of other music. But we never had that fan thing going on.
Tom- I became a fan of my guitar playing. For a bit I was the only fan of my guitar playing.
4: The moment Tokio Hotel took off...
Tom- There was this one show and we had been booked 6 months before we released our single. It was in a small village on an open stage like a street party with booths that sold beer and food, and I think we got about 100 euros to play there. Between the booking and the show, our single was released and went straight to number one. It was a really small village and the moment we got there it was so chaotic. The place was crowded and we couldn't even drive through. That was the moment we thought "Oh my God, what's happening?"
Bill- Yes, that was a moment we'll always remember because it was the first moment we recognized we do have fans. It was the first moment we thought that something was going on and that it would only get bigger from there.
5: Tokio Hotel's US Invasion
Bill- It's been really great, especially LA, we love LA very much, we just love it here.
Tom- So far we had a great gig in Toronto and Montreal, and we hope to have a great gig in LA tonight.
Bill-Then we're off to New York, but so far traveling America is very nice, and we were surprised by the feedback and support of our fans. No complaints. We're so delighted to be here.
