Tokio Hotel WW18 (Tokio Hotel misc.)

THE VILLAGE

Bill :
We lived in a very small village that had a view on the fields. The village was already small, but we lived on the outside of it. That means, there were just three houses and a big mountain next to a field. We lived in one of those thre houses.

NATURE

Tom :
We can't say that we are definitely against nature. When we are in the bus and look out the window, it's pleasant to look at. But the only thing is, there is nothing to do in nature...
Bill :
Yeah.

HOBBIES

Bill :
Naturally we have other hobbies, for example, I paint I sew my pants, etc. And Tom paints graffiti anywhere. But it doesn't matter because our principal hobby is music.
Tom :
For Bill and I, in any case, our main hobby has always been music. So we tarted early, and since then we've always wanted to only do music.

TOKIO HOTEL

Bill :
We thought a lot about it together to find a name that symolised us. It really seemed the right name to us because we like Tokyo, although, none of us know that city, I think we would really like it. And 'hotel' because we are on the road a lot. The name rings perfectly and we belived it would suit our group well.

GERMAN SONGS

Bill :
We do German songs because I had written songs in German before I had English in school. And we experimented from time to time on English songs, but I think practically every group has done that at least once. But mainly, we do German music.

THE LYRICS

Bill :
The texts are very pensive, and I think if we have time, we should listen to all the details in the album. But there are also songs that aren't vey deep, so it's well mixed. And since we all listen to different music, the album has been very influenced by us all.

VIDEOCLIP, DRINNIES AND DRAUSSIES

Bill :
Our video clip to our first single was close to a lake in Berlin and we took scenes in two places. Everything happens outside, so once in the wheat field, and once in the lake. It was quite wet and there was lots of greenery. And you must know that we are all Drinnies. We are Drinnies and Draussies. And Drinnies are more indoors than outdoors. We like the city, so we are mainly in the city...(sorry It didn't make much sense)

Tom : In cafés.

Bill : In cafés, yes. In a way it was really hard for us, because we found ourselves in the middle of the fields, and that's not very usual for us. For example, we're not really the type to go camping...

Georg : Exactly.

Bill : Yes always. There always has to be something man-made, there has to be at least 5 meters away, something 'human'.

Tom :
We avoid it. Anyhow it's better to avoid it, if the nature is intact.

Bill : Yes, and it was very intact in the video clip. It gave the impression of anger. And we talked about it for a long time because we wanted to do a tournage in the city, 'cause it's also a 'draussie' song. And finally, that fit perfectly for the clip.

Tom : The main idea for this video was that the sky is composed of the ocean and water. You have to remember that we divide people into two categories: drinnies and draussies. The whole group had to be there, even if we are more drinnies. Our scene producer did it well. That was a victory for us because we had to find ourselves in the rain and water with leeches, and in the forest with animals.

Bill : Yes, and with mean birds!

Tom : Exactly. Birds too, and Bill got bird shit. Those are the things draussies appreciate and not us, but it went well with the video.

Bill : But really, to make the clip was terrible, it was wet and cold, but otherwise it was okay. And what was the most shocking during the tournage? Nothing shocked me, except that I saw Georg from time to time acting without boxers. (that's what it said!)

LIVE

Georg : Playing live, is the best thing there is! To be able to present your songs to someone else and see that people appreciate what we do is fantastic!

Tom : My favorite song to play live, is 'schrei'. It's really the best to play live.

Bill : Playing live is terrible because it has nothing to do with an album on a CD. Already, in a studio you don't have the public and that's a better feeling if there's a public that participates. And hm, it's much worse to end up in a random studio.

FUTURE

Bill : The end of the year approaches and we will play in places where lots of other groups will be too. So we will play of course, our own songs. And it will be great, becaust the essential is that lots of people come.

Tom : So our big dream is to play one day in Tokyo, for sure.

Georg : We try to make our hobby our profession. That is, I think, everyone's dream. It is very rare that you have pleasure in your work, and we take advantage of it all and that's where the pleasure comes from.
