Tokio Hotel WW4 (Popcorn interview 2005)

Popcorn Interview, nr. 1
Popcorn Nr. 10, 2005

POPCORN: What?'s so Japanese about you guys, calling yourselves Tokio Hotel?

Georg: Nothing! The name just suddenly occurred to us. It used to be "Devilish" but we thought that was too common. So we started looking for a name that fits with us.

Gustav: Tokio is, just like us, just crazy. We always wanted to go to this city. And we see a lot of hotels on our tour. Somehow, they combined..

POPCORN: Tom and Bill are unusual names for two boys from Loitsch near Magdeburg..

Tom: Yeah, but those are our real names! Our mother thought, if she is going to get 2 kids, she is going to give them short names. My real name is Tom, and not Thomas or something!

POPCORN: Bill, your make-up is always so heavy. How did you get to that?

Bill: It started when I began to dress up like a vampire for carnival. I somehow hung on to that and putting on make-up was a daily basis, and just normal.

POPCORN: How did the people around you react to that?

Bill: People in our village first looked at me like I was insane, but after that it didn't matter, because we always stuck out, because we always looked different. The reactions in my class differed a lot though. The girls thought it was cool, the boys made some stupid comments like 'schwuchtel' (girly gay) or something like that.

Tom: In the eyes of a lot of guys, a guy can't put make-up on or look well-taken-care-of. It's just plain stupid.

POPCORN: How do you react to that, Bill?

Bill: It hurt me at first, but now it doesn't matter to me. Tom and I always did our own thing and we never really cared what others think or say about us.

Tom: (grins) Yeah, and if someone wants to hurt my little brother, they will have to go through me first.

POPCORN: How's love for you guys, do you like the same girls?

Tom: Yeah, that happens a lot. We always like the same girls. There is not a certain type that is our favorite. If we see one, we mostly like her both!

Bill: That's why we need twins! The Olsen Twins are both cute. But, who takes who?

Gustav: (laughs) That doesn't matter, you could switch!

POPCORN: What did your mother say about the tattoo in your neck, Bill?

Bill: I put it there without telling her, by a friend of my mother's. And I lied to him, telling him my mother was okay with it, so he did it. It hurt like hell and I was in big trouble at home. I still want a second tattoo though!

POPCORN: Gustav and Georg, you two dont have anything pierced or have tattoo's, that's kind of unnoticed.

Georg: Yes, but silent waters have deep grounds. I am not the type of the heavy looks and am more of a peace and quiet person. I would never get a tattoo..

Gustav: But I would! My plan is to get a tattoo on my back and under my shoulders. But I like to remain on the background and let the others do the show.

POPCORN: Do you have a girlfriend right now?

Tom: No, but I like to flirt and kiss with girls. I don't have time for a relationship right now!

Georg: I still feel too young to tie down.

Bill: No, be honest; we all dream of the love of our lives and all feel a little alone. At least, I would like a girlfriend.

POPCORN: What thing about girls blows you off?

Gustav: Huge underwear is a big no-no. If girls wear that, I get the chills. No, I prefer thongs, or any other sexy underwear. Uh, or nothing at all.

Bill: I dont like girls who bite their nails, disgusting!

Georg: Girls irritate me if they always want to be right, and who never admit they are wrong and then still hang on you like a tangle in your hair!

POPCORN: Do you like to kiss?

Bill: Yessir! Tom and I had our first kiss with the same girl! We were 10 and she was already 13.

Tom: Yeah, it was in the summer and we put a tent up in our garden. First she secretly kissed with me, and after that she got Bill. That was really weird.

Georg: I was really early with kissing. When I was about 4 years old I already kissed every girl..

POPCORN: Have you done 'it'?

Gustav: Yeah, but it wasn't spectacular! But I was only seeing the girls for just two weeks.

Tom: It happened with my first girlfriend, which I was together with for almost two years. It was great, pleasant, because we completely trusted each other and knew what the other liked and not.

Bill: If I already had sex is no one's business. Just this: I already had a long-term relationship with a girl and we certainly did not just play Mikado.

POPCORN: So have you?

Bill: I am not going to tell. That's my own little secret!
