Written by SaltyWench. This is not for sure, only theories.
He knows because even though they have very fancy hotels, the boys are still sharing rooms. If you watch the videos very carefully you can get hints, like Georg’s bag on Gustav’s bed, or two dinners brought by room service. They are careful to hide it, but you can pick up on it if you watch very closely. The boys shared in that grotti motel at the last NJR too, they were chasing bugs around their bath. They have said in interviews before that they live on the bus and only get a room in the morning for showers. They don’t get them four rooms, just the one. They get cleaned up while they eat. It looks impressive to rent a whole floor of rooms, but that is for everyone, not just the boys. Dave, the staff, roadies and security, everyone needs a room, and everyone shares. They travel with a staff of 30-40 people. They don’t discuss it because it would rattle the “we’re rich and successful” myth that goes with being a star. The band is far from rich. They are even required to individually pay for their own mini bars and pay per view out of their own pockets.
Their producers aren’t buying them individual 1,000 a night suites. When we do see them in expensive hotels, it is an organized PR stunt for cameras. You aren’t going to see video of them sharing rooms in seedy motels anytime soon, which is where they usually check in for a bath. We are only showed one or two rooms, and they are careful to only show one person in it. That is careful image editing, nothing more. They are working musicians. What they are is smart. They have good people trying to make sure they don’t end up at the end of this in debt. They are lucky to have people looking out for them in this way, and its probably because they were children when they started that caused it. There are some very good laws in place to protect children’s earnings. Most bands end up at the end of years of constant touring in debt to their record companies for millions.
They lost money on the American tour, a lot of it. It cost them thousands more than they made to come here and make an appearance. It always does. You have to spend money to earn it, and they expect to come back here in a big way, so its a necessary business expense.
And don’t lecture me about merchandising, LOL They don’t make nearly as much money off of that as everyone thinks they do. Before they see a penny of merchandising revenue, they have to pay off their debt. I remember talking to Axel Rose about two years into the Guns and Roses phenomenon. He said it was 11 months into their platinum album before he was able to not take the bus. He didn’t see one damn dollar for nearly a year.
The one good thing the boys have going for themselves is that some numbnuts wrote them a no confidence contract. The company thought they would be one hit wonders and gave them a steal the money and run document. The irony is that they weren’t, WAHAHAHAHA.
Any money the boys made until the were 18 was placed into an account they can’t touch until they are 25, so they will at least come out of all of this with something, but now that they have all had to resign as adults to a new contract, I would be stunned if they got those terms again. Its possible, but wow unlikely.
Theory about Tom’s brand new car
You know that Tom just bought a brand new expensive car. After you read this above, you might wonder how he could afford that? He didn’t. Someone may have paid for the car, for Tom to pay them back with publicity, so he don’t ruin his image. Tom from Tokio hotel can’t drive around in a wreck you know.
(If you know TH well enough, you should know that this is a bunch of bull...)
